Things to consider before the first use

Clean the new cast iron tawa with a mild dishwashing liquid detergent and water. Next, wipe dry with a soft cloth.Apply any cooking oil all over the tawa and then heat over a medium flame. Remove from the flame after 20 mins and allow the tawa to cool down completely. Wipe off excess oil, if any.Repeat these steps a few times before you start using the tawa. This will bring the desired cooking results.Over a period of time, your tawa will get a non-sticky surface. Repeated seasoning and usage will enhance the food taste.

Is the black color on the pan normal?

The black oil is supposedly the seasoning oil which is completely harmless. Frequent cooking and treating of the products might make the oil disappear
